Father,
We praise You for last-minute mercy! Thank You that it’s never too late to turn to You—that You always welcome repentant sinners through the open arms of Christ, and that You generously use hard circumstances to turn our hearts back to You when we’ve been calloused toward You.
Have mercy on me, a sinner. We repent of our sins and turn to You and ask You to make our hearts clean. Where we’ve given ourselves over to our desires and longings, we repent. Even good desires can take control of us in ways that are sinful, and we repent of trying to justify that to You, to ourselves, and others. Like Samson and Micah and the tribe of Dan, our disobedience has distanced our hearts from You and has made us even more vulnerable to the attacks of the enemy and the lies of the flesh.
But we praise You that Your Spirit is IN us now! Spirit, where we’ve walked in blatant rebellion and put off the things You’ve prompted us about for years, we ask for Your help. Would You grant us true repentance? Grant us strength to choose love for You over sin. Grant us the joy of obedience. And thank You that You never leave us!
We surrender our lives to You, Lord—every moment of our day, each decision we make, we yield our will and way to Your perfect will and way.

Father,
You are the God who works wonders! And like Manoah, we believe You will fulfill all Your plans and keep all Your promises! We praise You for being resourceful—for the way You use sinners like us in Your plan. We are so grateful to be used by You, even though our hearts and actions may be off track somewhere in the process. Thank You that we can’t ruin Your plan and that we can’t out-sin Your grace and mercy!
Have mercy on me, a sinner. We repent of our sins and turn to You and we ask You to make our hearts clean. Like Samson, we’ve kept secrets about our sins. We’ve hidden them away, in hopes they’d never be noticed or written down. But because You see all things, we know they’ve been accounted for, and because of the blood of Your Son Jesus, we know they’ve been paid for.
Direct our steps, God. Keep us from sin. Our sins have been paid for but they were costly, so help us to never take that lightly. Every sin is an affront to You and Your character, so help us identify any lies we believe about You or Your provision or Your protection that prompt us to sin. Correct those lies through the truth of Your Word and the prompting of Your Spirit. Uproot the lies the enemy uses to draw us into sin. We don’t want to agree with him—we know he’s a liar, and we know YOU are the truth!

Father,
We praise You for being a tender-hearted God, who grows impatient over the misery of Your people. The fact that Your heart is so compassionate and moved to action when we suffer—even though we’ve rebelled and deserve it—it shows us all the more why You are worthy of our worship. We are so grateful that the God of the universe has a heart like Yours.
Like the Israelites, our hearts are easily led astray to the point that we worship almost anything. We want to find our identity in so many things apart from You and we repent of that. We repent of being hasty—like the men who appointed Jephthah over their army AND like Jephthah himself, who made a foolish vow as he sought Your help. We repent of trying to bargain with You, as though we have anything to offer TO You that didn’t first come FROM You. We repent of not knowing You and Your Word well enough to know how to view Your rightly and walk in Your ways.
Keeping drawing us into Your Word, God. Keep setting us right where we’ve gone off track in our beliefs and values. Grant us discernment. Grant us repentance. Make us a people who are so laser-focused on You and Your Kingdom that nothing else has power over us. Prompt us to seek direction from You, and give us wisdom where we need it most, God.

Father,
We praise You for Your vigilant protection of Your kids and Your plan. We praise You for the way You work out justice through Your sovereignty. Only a sovereign God could make wickedness work for ultimate good. Only You can bend evil to serve You and bless Your kids.
Have mercy on me, a sinner. Like Ephraim, we’ve placed our identity in our strengths and giftings, and we repent. Some of us have found our identity in our weaknesses and sin patterns. We repent of that too. We repent of looking to anything but You as the source of our identity. Where we are too easy to offend, we repent of the arrogance underneath it all. Humble us and lay our pride to waste, God. We don’t want to be like Abimelech who destroyed his own home out of fear and greed.
Spirit, would you keep our hearts from being deceived about the things we worship? We don’t want to be like Gideon, whose heart grew proud. Keep us from distraction. Prompt us with conviction and direction, and point our eyes and hearts back to You, God.

YHWH Shalom,
We praise You for being our Peace in the midst of chaos. Like Gideon, our lives feel overwhelming sometimes, but You enter in and draw near and bring us what we wouldn’t have access to without You. We praise You for Your perfect timing and miraculous provision. Thank You for the leaders who lead us in your paths of righteousness. Thank You for the prophets who call our our sin and speak truth to us.
We repent of ignoring them both. We repent of leaning into the lie that You’ve forgotten or forsaken us when You’ve gone to great lengths to pursue us—sending Your Son to pay for our sins, and sending Your Spirit to indwell us even while we’re still sinners! We repent of doubting You and we thank You for being a God who isn’t afraid of our emotions or anger or doubt. You still draw near to us in all the fullness of our humanity.
Give us the wisdom and courage to tear down the lies we’re following after—even when it costs us something personally. Align us with the truth. When our hearts have misled us, remind us that there’s no such thing as OUR truth, God—there’s only YOUR truth, and it is THE truth.
We surrender our lives to You, Lord—every moment of our day, each decision we make, we yield our will and way to Your perfect will and way.

Father,
We praise You for choosing the unlikely, the unqualified, and the overlooked. That’s us, and we are so grateful to be Yours, to be chosen, called, and equipped by You and for Your purposes.
Have mercy on me, a sinner. We repent of our sins and turn to You. Like the Israelites, we often decide we prefer sin over peace. We repent of our foolishness and wickedness and ask You to make our hearts clean.
When we go astray in our hearts and actions, when we value sin over peae, would You turn our hearts back to You? Remind us of the cost of sin—how it required the atoning death of Your Son Jesus—and call us into the all-encompassing peace You have available to Your kids.

Father,
We praise You for Your faithfulness. We see it on every page of scripture. In the midst of every rebellion and every act of idolatry, we see You continue to be faithful to a faithless people. Thank You for chasing after our hearts so persistently.
Have mercy on me, a sinner. We repent of our sins and turn to You and we ask You to make our hearts clean. Help us to see our sin as weighty. We don’t want our repentance to be short-lived like the Israelites.
Grant us righteous leaders and grant us humble hearts to obey. Keep us from hedging on our obedience. And when we do disobey You, grant us quick and complete repentance. We want to be confessional and repentant before You every day, Lord. Growing closer to You often means we’ll see more areas where we need to repent, as You graciously reveal our hearts to us more and more. So we ask that You also show us reminders that our sin doesn’t scare You off. Because the blood of Your Son Jesus covers our sins, You have already declared us righteous and in right standing before You, even as we stand here in the midst of our sins. What great love and mercy You have for Your kids! Thank You for that, Father!

Father,
We praise You for being failproof! You have never failed us and You never will! We praise You for Your goodness to the Israelites and to all Your people. You are a promise maker and a promise keeper. Thank you for being dependable and true to who You say You are.
Have mercy on me, a sinner. We repent of our sins and turn to You and we ask You to make our hearts clean. We confess that we’re often hasty and we jump to conclusions like the Western Tribes. We repent of not hearing others out when we misunderstand them. We repent of judging the motives and hearts and actions of our brothers and sisters when, unlike You, we only see things from our limited vantage point.
Would You humble us and grant us patience toward others when there is division? Help us ask more questions and give us ears to truly listen. Soften our hearts so that we can respond reasonably and patiently, like the Western Tribes eventually did. We have a track record of disobedience, and we don’t listen well to You or anyone except ourselves. So please repeat Yourself to us. Spirit, please never stop prompting us toward words and actions that will honor You. Incline our hearts toward You.

Father,
The land You gave Your people is diverse and magnificent! From the desert and its salt sea to the lush green rolling hills with palm trees and bananas and roses, to the snow-capped mountains — all in a space the size of New Jersey! Your creativity and Your love for diversity is on display in Israel, God, and we praise You for it. We are a diverse people who have been adopted into Your family—as different as the deserts are from the mountains—and yet we share the most important thing in common: we’re marked as YOURS.
Have mercy on me, a sinner. We repent of balking at the diversity of Your people, of thinking we belong in Your family but those who aren’t like us don’t. We repent of our sins and turn to You and we ask You to make our hearts clean.
Like the Israelites who had to wait 40 years for their land, we are impatient by nature. Would You remind us today that Your perfect plan unfolds on Your timing, and Your schedule has no flaws or delay? Please give us peace when we don’t understand Your timeline or become frustrated by what appears to be a wrinkle in our plan. Your plan is superior to ours.

You are God Almighty! You are God of The Mountains! We praise You for marking clearly what is Yours, like You did with the shin over Jerusalem, and like You did with our hearts. You chose us to associate with, to own, to claim as Your possession. We are honored and grateful and unworthy.
Have mercy on me, a sinner. We repent of our sins and turn to You and we ask You to make our hearts clean. We confess that our hearts don’t always align with Yours.
Would You search our hearts to root out anything that isn’t aligned with Yours? We want to submit that to You or rid ourselves of it forever. May our lives be marked with a monogram of Your name that the world sees when they look at us—may we always be pointing back to You in everything we do.
