Father,
As the prophet Isaiah said, “I will give thanks to you, O Lord, for though You were angry with me,
Your anger turned away, that You might comfort me.” Your anger is real, God, and it’s righteous and it’s terrifying. But You took Your wrath upon Yourself and drew near to comfort us. Isaiah also said, “Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and I will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.”
Father, we praise You for the salvation You’ve granted us—complete and total rescue. We don’t always trust You, and sometimes we lean into fear. We repent of our hard hearts and our foolish and sinful thoughts. Would You be our strength today? Be our song, God. Give us a joy we can only recognize as You and Your nearness. You have BECOME our salvation. You haven’t just given it to us—You ARE it.
Because of Your great anger-absorbing, comfort-inducing love, we joyfully surrender our lives to You, Lord. Be glorified in us today.
We love You too. Amen.
